Marathon Pharmaceuticals Announces Appointment of Halit Bander, Ph.D., as Vice President of Clinical, Regulatory & Medical Affairs

Marathon Pharmaceuticals, LLC, a private-equity backed, fully-integrated specialty pharmaceutical company, announced today that it has appointed Dr. Halit Bander as Vice President of Clinical, Regulatory & Medical Affairs.

Altman, Ph.D., president and chief executive officer of Marathon Pharmaceuticals. “Her depth of experience and history of success in clinical development will be pivotal to Marathon’s future growth and we look forward to her contributions to the team.”

Prior to joining Marathon, Bander worked at Pfizer where she was the Executive Director and Medicine Team Leader for Pfizer’s biggest drug, Lipitor, with approximately $12 billion in sales per year. In this role, she was responsible for all medical aspects of the blockbuster drug, including management of worldwide medical affairs, regulatory, clinical, safety, outcome research and commercial development.

Throughout her time at Pfizer, Bander provided global leadership across major therapeutic areas including cardiovascular, diabetes, urology and respiratory. She also managed a global clinical program (Phase I–IV) of more than 400 clinical trials. Within these trials, she was responsible for full management of the Large Global Landmark Endpoints trials with more than 80,000 patients — one of the largest Phase IV programs worldwide.

Prior to working at Pfizer, Bander was a research assistant professor at Boston University and worked on the Framingham Heart Study regarding risk factors of heart disease. She has authored or co-authored more than 30 publications in leading medical journals and holds a PhD in Statistics from Boston University.

Bander is Marathon’s most recent appointment. In May, Marc Yoskowitz, formerly of McKinsey & Co., joined Marathon as Vice President of Business Development.
